The participants have an opportunity to submit their project application to a stepwise evaluation and receive valuable insights from other Academy Research Fellow applicants and from the research funding specialists. NOTE that the Research Council of Finland will use a new structure for the research plan in Winter call 2025 (DL 8.1.2025).

Applications for Academy Research Fellowship funding may be submitted by researchers who at the application deadline have completed their first doctorate at least 2 but no more than 7 years ago.

Overview of the content:

• PHASE 1 in October 2024: Ask feedback on your 2-page, free-form idea paper (brief description of the background, research questions/objectives, methodology, research data, and significance/importance of the project) from your mentor/colleague; see  ’Quality of research’ in review form 2024. We can also help in finding in-house reviewer(s) upon request.
• PHASE 2:  DL 29.10. for submitting essential parts of the research plan (1 Background and Significance, 2 Impact: •Outcomes and impacts of research within academia, 3 Implementation: •Work plan and schedule, •Research data and material, methods) & assessment of the group participants' drafts and peer discussion in a Teams meeting organised on 4.-8.11. (date will be agreed with the participants).
• PHASE 3:  DL 3.12. for submitting the full draft of the research plan & assessment of the drafts and peer discussion in a Teams meeting organised on 9.-13.12. (date will be agreed with the participants).

More detailed information on the content will be sent to the participants later. We will have an optional Q&A session on 10.10. at 10-11 for asking questions on the funding instrument or the content of the research plan/training programme.
